Anxiety - Look for the calm within yourself

We live in certain times, but we don't have to be anxious about change. As Buddhists state 'change is inevitable'. #change #anxious #anxiety

In this blog I am going to give you a few strategies to look after yourself if and when you feel anxious. Anxiety is an internal thing, and can be worked on from the inside!


Anxiety is worrying about the future - so it takes your energy off away into the future, so you have to bring your energy back to the moment. The easiest way to do this is to breathe, because we can't take a breath in the past or the future - only this moment!


Breathe!

It's easier said than done - this breathing business! ... don't try to take a deep breath in - PUSH your breath out, and a bit more if you can - then watch as your body does the rest!

It's easier said than done - this breathing business! Often the advice when you are anxious is to breathe deeply, however, if your breath only stays in the top half of your chest no matter what you try, then that in itself causes more anxiety. The answer is simple - don't try to take a deep breath in - PUSH your breath out, and a bit more if you can - then watch as your body does the rest, which is to take a breath to your diaphragm! Our bodies are brilliant at doing things automatically. #breath #breathe #anxious #anxiety


Breathing

It's amazing how simple it is and it's invisible to work on your anxiety - or nipping it in the bud - if you breathe as the above. And there is science to say if we don't breathe well our anxiety gets heightened - we are constantly then on heightened alert (the fight or flight system), feeling like there is a tiger behind us! The latter will effect our eating, sleep, energy levels and not to mention mood and relationships. #breathing #anxiety #moods #relationships #eating #sleep #energy

Imagine you wrap it around you first, the people you care for, the world, and then fling the end off into the Universe...

I do the following exercise with all my clients, male and female, if they are struggling with anxiety and lack of self-confidence, self -worth or self-love (unfortunately, these states of feeling and being are often linked). Imagine you have a sari. What colour would it be? What material is it made off? Does it have a border? If so, is it a big border or a little one? Does it have a pattern? What colour is this? Now...Imagine you wrap it around you first, the people you care for, the world, and then fling the end off into the Universe...#anxiety #moods #exercise #self #confidence #worth #love


Getting you into a safer place within yourself - giving anxiety the heave ho!


Then I ask them how they feel. Often my client is surprised at their own response - it's almost like they have found something within that anxiety didn't leave space for - a bit creativity full of peace and love. And the more that is harnessed, the less space there is for anxiety in your life. #creativity #feelings #peace #love
